Learning Hub - School Library
Welcome to Silverstream School Learning Hub.
The Learning Hub is at the heart of our school. We are very proud of our bright, modern learning environment and feel that it is an inviting place for our students to learn and relax in.
Not only is it a place to read our extensive selection of current and relevant books, but it is also where students have many other opportunities. It is where we trial new ideas and initiatives, and a space where we encourage students to think, create and share their learning with others.
Students thoroughly enjoy having the option of using the Learning Hub as an alternative to the playground outside.
Open Hours
The Learning Hub is open from 9-3 daily and every class visits each week. We also open at lunchtime from Monday to Thursday.
Activities
Various activities are available during these lunchtimes. One of these is our Maker Space. This is a session where students can be creative and use Lego, collage and other materials to build and make. Maker Space is an idea that we are continually developing and we refine and add to the activities that we offer during lunch times. We are also integrating a technological and engineering element to to this space, which is about trying to incorporate the STEAM philosophy of education. STEAM stands for Science & Technology interpreted through Engineering & the Arts, all based in Mathematical elements.
