Fundraising with the Friends of Silverstream School (FoSS) Team
Meeting Dates: 2nd Thursday of the Month
oThe Friends of Silverstream School (FoSS) is made up of parents from the school to raise funds to enrich our school environment.
In the past it has contributed to projects such as Heat Pumps, iPads and modern learning furniture, and last year to get Stage One of the Outdoor Learning Environment underway. Alongside these larger projects the FOSS also helps with funds for extras in the classroom that are not covered in the budget, smaller requests from the Student Council and Leadership Team, the Leavers assembly prizes and supper and other requests for help throughout the year.
Whilst the primary aim of the FOSS is to raise funds, the way in which this is done is carefully considered to try and make fundraising enjoyable for both the FOSS and those that are encouraged to come along. From larger social occasions such as The Silverstream New World Quiz Night and the Team Ledger Night at the Races, through to the Bring’n’buy, school discos and sausage Sizzles, the FoSS try to encourage good social gatherings for the students and the parents to ensure that great sense of community that Silverstream School has is fostered and continues to grow.
The FoSS meets on a regular basis at 7.30 in the staffroom during term time, meetings are usually completed before 9pm, are productive and also fairly social. For the past three years the FoSS has run on a “sub-committee” model, with events run by smaller groups who report back at the full meetings ensuring things are running to plan. With such a large committee this has worked to keep committee meetings efficient.
The level of involvement by committee members is always dependent on individual time availability and ability to commit to the various activities that run. New committee members are always welcome and can either turn up to the meetings which are advertised in the school newsletters and upcoming dates emails or you can complete the form below.
