Kākano Programme (for 4-5 year olds who are starting school soon)
The Kākano programme is for those children about to start school for the first time, in the next cohort entry. This programme helps children to have the best possible start at school.
Parents and children are invited to attend three morning sessions 9:00-10:40 am, leading up to their starting day at school. During this time we hope that you will learn more about what school will be like for your child and ways you can assist them at home in preparation for entry to school.
It is a great opportunity for you to gain the necessary information about starting school, to ask questions and gain an understanding of how we can work together as a partnership in your child’s education. You will also meet the other parents starting in the same cohort.
Week 1: Mihi - Haere Mai
Week 2: Literacy
Week 3: Kura Community
Once your child is enrolled, a letter will be sent to you to confirm your child’s cohort entry and school visit dates.
