Silverstream School is located in Upper Hutt City, near Wellington. The school has been the centre of the community
since 1924. Our staff, students and community enjoy a positive and supportive relationship and this website will
enable you to see some aspects of that relationship in action.
Junior Production
The Junior team worked on an Inquirl topic during term two about their families' cultural backgrounds.
Children investigated and shared where their families had come from before arriving in New Zealand, and then
shared information, treasured items and their family members. The junior production performances were based
on these cultures.
The story of the Junior Production was centered on a child who had moved to a new school and was making friends
and finding out about them and their families. Our backgrounds reflected cultures as diverse as British,
Pakistani, German, Australian and Samoan. Children had an exciting time learning songs and dances; from English
Morris dancing to a dragon dance from China.
It was a great chance to experience being on a stage, singing in a large group, and dancing and acting for an
audience.
